About our Doctors: Doctors Kris Hill and Jed Winder are therapeutic optometrists licensed to diagnose and treat disorders of the eye. In their practice the doctors place an emphasis on difficult contact lens fits, laser vision co-management, and the treatment of ocular disease. Both doctors examine children as young as 1 year. Dr. Hill is a graduate of Skyline High School where he was a member of the swim team and was also a member of the State Championship football team. He attended the University of Utah and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University. After completion of Optometry school he served as an Officer in the United States Navy and was Chief of Optometry at NRMC Camp Pendleton California. He returned to Utah in 1980 and established his private practice in Tooele where he has practiced the past 23 years. Among his honors and accomplishments, he served as President Of the Utah Optometric Association in 1989 and in 1990 was selected by his peers as the Optometrist of the Year for the state of Utah. Draper’s South Mountain is the current home of Dr. Hill and his wife Merry. They are the parents of 4 grown children and are enjoying the freedom to travel and enjoy the great outdoor lifestyle Utah has to offer. On your next visit to our office ask him about his hiking, biking, boating and scuba diving adventures. If he talks too long remember , you asked. He joined Eyecare Associates, located in Midvale in 1999 and after Dr. Jeff Keller’s retirement later that year has continued providing the caring and personal service Eyecare Associates as well as Tooele Vision Center. Dedication to serving our patients with the highest quality eyecare and eyewear is what drives our practice. Dr. Hill will always treat his patients with courtesy and respect and make it a point to answer any question concerning their eyes and visual needs. Dr. Winder graduated with his Doctorate of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry; he is a 6th generation Utahan, and native of West Valley City, Utah. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University’s Marriot School of Management, and a degree from Ricks College in Natural Science, graduating in the top 5% of his class. In addition to his doctoral training he has worked for the past 7 years with several ophthalmologists and optometrists as a technician, optician and assistant; including The Ohio State University Ophthalmology Department where he was on staff with the university’s retinal specialists helping to treat diabetic eye problems and Macular Degeneration. While in optometry school Dr. Winder completed additional training to receive a ‘specialization in aging’ credential, and was awarded by the College for a Research Article on glaucoma. His professional affiliations include membership in the Utah Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. In 1999 Dr. Winder traveled with a group of Utah eye doctors to Mexico on an optometric humanitarian trip with the Lions Club. He also served a two-year mission in Edinburgh, Scotland for the LDS church. In his personal time Dr. Winder has always been active in sports, outdoor activities, and family. While at Hunter High School he was captain of the swim team and named All-American in water polo. He has completed 4 marathons, and is determined to hike the highest point in each state. He also loves to spend time with his wife Lisa and their four young children Cannon (11), Rachel (8), Devon (5), and Leah (1). Dr. Winder is genuinely committed to your eye health and vision. Heidi has worked as an Optician and Optometric Assistant for the past 14 years; 5 in Las Vegas and has been here at Tooele Vision Center since 2001. She is our frame and lens specialist who is skilled in selecting the perfect lens and frame for optimum vision and fashion. Additionally, she does much of the optical lab work such as edging, tinting and polishing lenses. She also assists with patient testing and contact lens training for new wearers. Heidi recently had LASIK after being highly nearsighted for years; she loves to give patients a first hand experience of the procedure. Angela Curtis Optometric Assistant
Angela was raised in Grantsville, is married and has 1 daughter. She assists the doctor during the exam by performing Visual field testing and Auto-Refraction/Keratometry. She is our contact lens specialist who teaches many of our new wearers proper handling, insertion, removal, and care for their new contact lenses. A lover of good fashion, Angela has many pairs of designer sunglasses and loves to share her enthusiasm with patients in their selection of personalized eyewear. Cindy joined our team in 2007 after working over 11 years for a Credit Union and 10 years at a car rental company. Having gained much business and customer service experience she now manages all of our insurance billing, collections, accounts receivables and office correspondence. Cindy’s family is from Taos, New Mexico but was born in Green River Wyoming. She grew up in Ogden, Utah and has been married for 23 years and has 3 children. She loves the outdoors, baseball, scrap booking and her pet bulldogs. After living in Grand Junction Colorado for 9 years she moved her family to Stansbury Park in 1996 and has just loves living here in Tooele County. She looks forward to answering and helping you with any of your insurance questions or concerns. Coryn Holmes Optometric Assistant
Coryn is married with 2 daughters and is a life long resident of Erda. Her love of style and trends makes her excellent at helping our patients choose fashionable eyewear. Coryn will greet you to our office with a warm personality and smile. She also assists the doctors in Visual Field/Glaucoma testing and in taking a picture of the inside of each patient’s eye with our office’s new digital retinal eye camera. Amy is a Tooele native and is married with 3 children. She has worked in the Optical business for 3 years including 2 years as a manager of a retail chain store. She is certified by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and has demonstrated excellent competency in fitting people with the proper frame and lens choice to achieve the best solution for ones visual needs. Based on your prescription she will determine the type of lenses for what you need to see your very best. When you come into our office you will be sure to recognize Amy with her warm smile and great personality. She is always ready to help with all of your optical needs. |
