The FDA has recently approved the newest lasers which do a new procedure called Custom LASIK. Custom LASIK involves measuring the eye from front to back with a computer called "wavefront" technology. THis creates a 3-D corneal map. The information collected from the scan is used to guide the laser in customizing the treatment to your individual visual irregularities correcting "higher order abberations" other than nearsighted and farsightedness. This translates into a reduced risk of post-op complications such as glare, halos, loss of contrast and difficulty with night vision.
